Edmonds CrossFit will be hosting their third annual “CrossFit for the Community” fundraising event for the Dale Turner Family YMCA on Saturday, April 6th 2019, at 10:00am. It will be open to anyone, individuals or families, who wants to help support their local community YMCA and get in a good workout while doing so.
Jeremy Wentzel, an Edmonds CrossFit coach and volunteer for the Dale Turner Family YMCA in Shoreline, said, “Each year, all YMCAs have to raise their own funds to offer programs like before- and after-school childcare, diabetes prevention classes, and free meals at two local churches twice a week. I’m hoping to raise between $1000 and $1500 at this event.”
He went on to say that the YMCA never turns down anyone who may not be able to afford the available programs, so the donations and fundraising events also cover scholarships for summer camps, swimming lessons, and other activities for children or families who may need the assistance.
The CrossFit event will be a fun, non-competitive workout with exercises and movements geared towards both children and adults. The children’s workout will consist of movements like push-ups, air squats, box jumps, and jump rope, where they will see how many repetitions of each exercise they can do in a minute. The adult’s workout will focus primarily on body-weight exercises (which can be modified as necessary to take into account individual fitness and mobility levels).
There is a suggested donation of $25 per person, or $1 for every repetition a child does of each exercise. If you would like to support the YMCA’s programs but are unable to attend the CrossFit event, please click on the link to donate directly to the Dale Turner Family YMCA Annual Campaign.
Edmonds CrossFit is located at 9920 Edmonds Way, Edmonds WA 98020.
